There are various kinds of drug detox programs that are conducted in various healthcare facilities across the world. Though it seems that all detox programs would be similar, there are differences.
Different drug rehab centers have different drug detoxification programs, but most of them will work in a principally similar manner. Drug detox means removal of toxic wastes from the body of the person which have accumulated due to long periods of drug abuse. There are three main steps that are involved in this process.
It is very common what a drug detoxification program does. It purges the toxins from the body and leaves it behind in a healthy state of functioning. This is of course what it does, and it also brings in the terrible period of withdrawal period which, for a drug addiction, will last for at least seven days and can go on for much more than that.
A great lot has been said and written about how important it is for family intervention to be present in a drug addiction treatment. The most obvious benefit of this kind of intervention is that the family has the highest potential to encourage the person to realize that something is wrong with him or her (which is, the addiction) and that treatment must be sought for the same.
